Facilities Management (FM) is a management discipline concerned with the integration of processes within the school to maintain and develop agreed services which support and improve the effectiveness of the school’s primary activities. This department’s objective is to coordinate demand and supply of facilities and services within the school. This includes all tangible assets that supports the school.

The scope of FM includes new projects, planned campus maintenance, gardening and landscaping, health and safety, environmental stewardship and sustainability, event set-ups, cleaning and hygiene services, security and utility management. FM is also tasked with reducing costs and adding value to the core business of the school.

Operationally, the FM department has responsibilities for the day-to-day running of the buildings and facilities. These tasks may be outsourced or carried out by our directly employed staff. Some issues require more than just periodic maintenance, for example those that can stop or hamper the productivity or effectiveness of the school.

NOTE: Parent requests for any of the above services (an example could be when a committee member is planning an on-campus event and need assistance in terms of setting up the venue) need to complete a Work Order, available from the School Secretary, or e-mail the relevant details to delamm@somersethouse.co.za supplying as much information as possible.
